To be honest, it is impossible to sustain an entire energy economy on wind energy alone. While I respect it as an energy source, it has no place being a front line contender. While it produces energy, it is not a constant process, and it is not cost-effective either. The maintenance taking place on wind turbines is several times more frequent than the maintenance done on solar panels. This is why I feel that although it is a very green energy source, it shouldn't be used as a primary energy source.
